Friday, the Third Day

I woke up this morning after a nice amount of sleep. Rejuvenating, to say the least.

But I think the best five minutes of the morning was those five minutes I spent with myself.

Today, I looked at myself and said hello.

I noticed that my hair was all out of place, but before doing anything to it, I just continued to stand there.

And let it be.

I saw something in my eyes as I shared that time with my self. I tried to put a word to it, but every time that a word came to mind I felt that it was not the right one. Compassion? Concern. Caring? Determination. Fire? Yearning? Love. I felt what it was in my eyes; I could not express it in any way but its own feeling... And that feeling was deep.

Am I finally meeting myself? Have I just been assuming what I've personally wanted for years?

I feel like I am finally seeing with my eyes, for the first time.

Day Two

I'm running a bit low on time this morning. I still set aside five minutes to just be with myself this morning.

I started by saying good morning.

And then, being there with myself, I let my brain go. It was a blank space with just me in it. With it may be a better term.

Me with me.

I noticed my eyes, and my wrinkles underneath them. I noticed my shape and form. I didn't try to make any ideas on these observations: I just saw what I am. I see what I am in the now.

When my five minute alarm went off, I said "Thank you." for sharing the time with myself.

And, so the day begins.

The First 5 Minutes

I stood in front of the mirror in my bathroom today for about 5 minutes and just stared myself straight in the face.

My hair is long, and I need to get a haircut.

I took a little time getting comfortable with myself, IE: changing the position I was holding my arms, tilting my head a bit this way and that way to get a good angle on myself, wondering if my hair looked better on that side or the other side.

And then I was just there. With myself.

For five whole minutes.

It went pretty fast, I would say. I tried to stop myself from getting "distracted" in my thoughts by thinking about the day or something else. Every time I would get "distracted", there I was: staring myself right in the face. It was comforting after a while to just return to myself and be there with myself.

The first step is getting comfortable with who you are right now. I am not who I was in the past nor am I some sort of convoluted image of what I want to be in the future.

I AM Gerry.

First Post

This blog has now been created with a devotion towards intellect, truth, and the embodiment of good will towards all creation.

Thank you for reading.

It will be the goal of this blog to chronicle a look at myself in the mirror for five minutes per day for the next month.

Sometimes I may go more than five minutes at a time. /gasp.

All is Good

Amen
