I stood in front of the mirror in my bathroom today for about 5 minutes and just stared myself straight in the face.
My hair is long, and I need to get a haircut.
I took a little time getting comfortable with myself, IE: changing the position I was holding my arms, tilting my head a bit this way and that way to get a good angle on myself, wondering if my hair looked better on that side or the other side.
And then I was just there. With myself.
For five whole minutes.
It went pretty fast, I would say. I tried to stop myself from getting "distracted" in my thoughts by thinking about the day or something else. Every time I would get "distracted", there I was: staring myself right in the face. It was comforting after a while to just return to myself and be there with myself.
The first step is getting comfortable with who you are right now. I am not who I was in the past nor am I some sort of convoluted image of what I want to be in the future.
I AM Gerry.
